Dr Debra Leung is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, with a strong clinical and academic interest in perioperative medicine and high-risk oncology surgery. She is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the role of shared decision making in major surgery and is recognised as a leading expert in this field.

Associate Professor Jamie Young is a Specialist Pain Physician and Clinical Lead of Pain Medicine at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. His clinical and research interests span acute and chronic cancer pain, and he has published widely in this field.

The programme features Dr Daisy Mak, Medical Oncologist at Auckland City Hospital, who will explore emerging cancer therapies and their implications for perioperative care. Dr Janine Mazengarb, an Auckland Cardiologist with specialist interests in cardio-oncology, will discuss the cardiovascular effects of new cancer treatments and the challenges they present for anaesthetists.

A dedicated session on perioperative cancer care in New Zealand will examine how patients navigate the journey between regional hospitals and specialist centres, and how clinicians can work together to deliver the best possible care throughout cancer surgery.
