Dr Debra Leung
Staff Specialist Anaesthetist - Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Victoria
Dr Leung is a staff Specialist Anaesthesiologist with a specialty in surgical oncology. She completed her post-graduate anaesthetic training at the Alfred Hospital and undertook a fellowship in oncoanaesthesia at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. She has also worked at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. She has been a full-time specialist at Peter Mac since 2018 and is a current supervisor of training. Dr Leung has a clinical interest in perioperative medicine and prehabilitation. Through her work in this area, she started and leads the Shared Decision Making for high-risk surgical patients pathway. This is a patient-centred pathway that aims to empower patients and support clinicians in the multitude of difficult decisions around the time of surgery.
In addition to this clinical interest, she is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the role of Shared Decision Making in major surgery through the Sir Peter MacCallum Department of Oncology based at the University of Melbourne. She also runs workshops to upskill perioperative clinicians in Shared Decision Making for high-risk surgical patients. Debra is a trained facilitator in communication skills for healthcare workers and teaches on healthcare communication workshops and residential retreats. Through this work, she holds an affiliate senior lecturer position with the Centre for Organisational Change in Person-Centred Healthcare based at Deakin University.
Ass. professor Jamie young
Pain Specialist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Victoria
Associate Professor Jamie Young is a Pain Specialist in acute, chronic and cancer pain and is the Clinical Lead of the department.
His other areas of interest include teaching medical students and trainees, medical leadership and research.
He has ongoing publications in cancer pain and participates in supervision of medical students. He presents regularly on pain management at a local, state and national level and has completed a PhD in pain management associated with multiple sclerosis.

Dr Daisy wing mak
Specialist, Auckland
Dr Mak is a Medical Oncologist specialising in patients with thoracic cancers, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic tumours. She also has a special interest in breast cancer.
Daisy completed her undergraduate medical education in Hong Kong in 2006, and obtained fellowship in medical oncology in 2013 (FHKCP, FHKAM). She then completed further training in advanced internal medicine and haematology. In 2018, she pursued training in lung cancer in Royal Marsden Hospital as a clinical research fellow, and was exposed to the cutting edge research, and worked alongside some of the top lung cancer experts in the world.
Returning to Hong Kong, Daisy worked at one of the largest tertiary centres, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, as an associate consultant, and pioneered the comprehensive lung cancer programme aimed at reducing workflow barriers and streamlining patient care.
In 2019, she moved to Christchurch, New Zealand where she worked in Christchurch Hospital treating breast, upper gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancer, on top of lung cancer and lymphoma. She then joined Auckland City Hospital as a consultant medical oncologist in 2020 and was awarded her FRACP in 2020, and FRCP(Edin) in 2022.
Daisy’s focus is on incorporating cutting-edge information into patient care, fostering strong communication with both patients and their families, and establishing aligned and prioritized goals. She is fluent in English and Cantonese, with a functional proficiency in Mandarin.
When not working, she plays the piano, enjoys reading, tramping and spending time with family and friends.
Mr Michael Booth
Consultant Surgeon, Northshore Hospital
Mr Michael Booth is a general surgeon with a subspecialty interest in upper gastrointestinal surgery. He is a consultant at North Shore Hospital and is also in Private practice. He has a major interest in laparoscopic surgery including surgery for obesity (bariatric surgery), hernia, gallbladder and anti-reflux surgery. His bariatric programme incorporates a dietitian and procedures offered to patients include laparoscopic and open gastric bypass as well as laparoscopic adjustable banding.
